Our client, a mission-driven Christian-based nonprofit organization, is seeking a dedicated Senior Accountant with a strong background in Accounts Payable to join their finance team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute your accounting expertise while supporting an organization committed to serving the community through faith-based initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the full accounts payable process, including invoice approvals, vendor payments, and expense allocations.

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, nonprofit accounting standards, and organizational policies.

  • Prepare and post journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals related to AP and other key accounts.

  • Assist in month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation of schedules for auditors.

  • Support preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and nonprofit reporting standards.

  • Maintain accurate records for grants, donations, and restricted funds in coordination with the finance team.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional departments and external vendors to resolve discrepancies and ensure timely payment processing.

  • Provide process improvement recommendations to enhance efficiency within the AP and accounting functions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.

  • 5+ years of accounting experience, with a strong emphasis on Accounts Payable.

  • Prior experience in a nonprofit organization or fund accounting preferred.

  • Solid understanding of GAAP and internal controls.

  • Proficiency in accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, or similar ERP) and MS Excel.

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.

  • Alignment with the organization’s Christian mission and values.
