We are partnering with a mission-driven nonprofit organization located near the University of Chicago to hire a detail-oriented Grant Accountant. This role plays a key part in ensuring the financial integrity of grant funding and supporting programs that make a meaningful impact in the community.
Grant Accountant – Key Responsibilities:

Manage the financial aspects of federal, state, and private grants, including budgeting, compliance, and reporting

Prepare timely and accurate grant-related financial statements and reports for funders and internal stakeholders

Track and reconcile grant expenditures, ensuring alignment with grant agreements and organizational policies
-
Collaborate with program managers to monitor budgets and provide guidance on allowable costs
-
Assist in the preparation of audits, ensuring proper documentation of grant activity

Support the Finance Director and leadership team with ad hoc analysis and reporting
Grant Accountant – Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required

3+ years of experience in grant accounting or nonprofit financial management
-
Strong knowledge of GAAP and federal grant compliance (Uniform Guidance preferred)

Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills
-
Proficiency in Excel; experience with nonprofit accounting systems a plus

Compensation is based on an hourly rate of $25-31 per hour, depending on experience, skill set, and contract terms.
