The Human Resources Manager will be the architect and leader of the organization’s first formal HR department. The ideal candidate will have a “builders” mentality, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and bring extensive knowledge of human resources policies from the construction industry.
Human Resources Manager Responsibilities:
- Build the HR department from the ground up, defining vision, structure, and roadmap aligned with business objectives.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the CFO and senior leadership on people strategy, workforce planning, and organizational design.
- Create and implement core HR policies, SOPs, and systems to support scalability and compliance.
- Support the system integration and company-wide rollout of Paylocity.
- Manage and resolve employee relations (ER) issues, including investigations, conflict resolution, and documentation.
- Establish structured onboarding and orientation programs.
- Implement workforce planning practices and succession planning.
- Coach and advise managers on performance management, feedback, and corrective action processes.
- Audit and align compensation, benefits, and leave programs to ensure competitiveness and compliance.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws (FLSA, FMLA, EEO, OSHA, etc.).
Human Resources Manager Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s or HR certifications such as SHRM-SCP or SPHR preferred).
- 10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, including at least 3–5 years in a head-of-function or senior HR business partner capacity.
- Proven success in building or scaling HR infrastructure from early stages within a growing organization, preferably in construction, utilities, or field-based industries.
- Strong knowledge of employment law, HR best practices, and compliance specific to construction.
- Paylocity experience preferred.
- Experience implementing SOPs, HRIS, and scalable systems.
- Ability to build trust and influence at all levels, from craft labor to C-suite.
